Lab Testing Overview

Overview of how lab testing works at Maximus, including why labs are required, when they may be requested, and how clinicians review results.

Overview

Laboratory testing helps your clinician evaluate your health, determine whether treatment is appropriate, and monitor your safety throughout your protocol.

Your clinician only orders labs that are medically necessary for your treatment plan.

Why Labs Are Required

Labs help your clinician:

  • Establish baseline health markers

  • Confirm treatment eligibility

  • Monitor safety while on medication

  • Evaluate how your body responds to treatment

  • Adjust dosing when necessary

When Labs May Be Requested

Depending on your protocol, labs may be required at several points during treatment, including:

  • Before starting treatment (baseline labs)

  • After beginning treatment

  • Before prescription renewals

  • After dose adjustments

  • If symptoms change

  • Periodically for ongoing safety monitoring

Your clinician will notify you when labs are required.

Types of Tests

Different protocols require different laboratory markers. Depending on your treatment plan, labs may include:

  • Hormone panels

  • Safety monitoring markers

  • Metabolic markers

  • Other protocol-specific measurements

Your clinician will determine which tests are necessary.

How Results Are Reviewed

Once your labs are processed:

  1. Results are sent to your clinician

  2. Your clinician reviews them alongside your medical history and symptoms

  3. Your clinician determines next steps

Possible outcomes may include:

  • Starting treatment

  • Continuing treatment

  • Adjusting your dose

  • Ordering additional testing

Lab Review Timelines

Most lab results are reviewed within several business days after they are submitted. Timelines may vary depending on:

  • Laboratory processing time

  • Sample quality

  • Testing volume

  • Whether additional testing is required

Your clinician will contact you once the review is complete.
