Prescription Fulfillment & Shipping

How Maximus prescriptions are sent to the pharmacy, prepared, and shipped — including customer actions that may be required, typical timelines, and what can cause delays.

Once your clinician approves a prescription, it is sent electronically to a partner pharmacy for fulfillment. Pharmacy fulfillment typically takes 3–5 business days from the date the prescription is received. The pharmacy then prepares your medication and ships it directly to your verified address. You will receive an email with tracking details to monitor delivery.

Maximus offers automatic shipments for core medications based on your subscription settings, so as long as your account information is up to date, refills move through this process without manual intervention.

Customer actions that may be required

Some orders require specific actions before fulfillment can proceed:

Intake questionnaire. The intake questionnaire is essential for triggering prescription refills. Without it, your clinician cannot issue the next prescription, which delays shipment. Once completed, the questionnaire is sent to your clinician for review. If your protocol is approved, a prescription is issued and sent to the pharmacy.

Lab tests and video evaluations. For certain protocols, you may need to complete lab tests and a video evaluation. After your clinician reviews the lab results, your order proceeds.

At-home test kits. After confirming payment, the test kit ships to your address within 2–7 business days. Complete the test in the morning and return it between Monday and Thursday for prompt processing. The intake questionnaire becomes available approximately 18 days after you receive your last medication shipment, ensuring your clinician has the most up-to-date information before issuing your next prescription.

After your prescription is approved, your clinician reviews the completed intake questionnaire and issues your prescription within two business days.

Pharmacy fulfillment

Once approved, the process moves through these steps:

  1. The prescription is transmitted to a partner pharmacy

  2. The pharmacy prepares your medication

  3. The order is packaged and prepared for shipping

  4. The pharmacy fulfillment process typically takes 3–5 business days

Some medications require compounding or specialized preparation, which may affect processing time. Specialized preparations may take 3–7 business days to complete.

Shipping preparation

Once the pharmacy prepares your order:

  • Tracking information becomes available

  • Shipping notifications appear in your Maximus dashboard

  • Delivery begins through the selected carrier

  • Email notifications with tracking details are sent once the order ships

  • Shipping is conducted with priority shipping, generally within the 3–5 business day window

Shipping timelines may vary based on medication type, pharmacy location, and carrier conditions.

Potential delays

Orders may be delayed if:

  • Additional pharmacy verification is required

  • A medication is temporarily unavailable

  • The pharmacy requires clarification from your clinician

  • There are delays in the clinician sending the prescription

  • The pharmacy has availability issues in your state

If your order experiences a delay, updates appear in your Maximus dashboard. Maximus actively monitors your case and communicates updates through the dashboard.

Delays may also occur if required customer actions — such as completing the intake questionnaire or lab tests — are incomplete. Complete all required steps promptly to avoid disruptions.
