Maximus prescribes GLP-1 medications (semaglutide and tirzepatide) in most U.S. states where our clinicians are licensed. The states listed below have current restrictions — if your state is not on this list, the protocol is available to you.
Current state restrictions
State | Status | Reason |
Alabama | Unavailable | State regulations and pharmacy limitations restrict GLP-1 prescribing |
Louisiana | Unavailable | Regulatory and operational requirements |
Mississippi | Temporarily unavailable | Pharmacy limitations — Maximus is working with a new fulfilling pharmacy |
Texas | Temporarily unavailable | Pharmacy limitations — Maximus is working with a new fulfilling pharmacy |
What this means for new sign-ups
If you're in a state listed above, the GLP-1 protocol cannot be started right now. Your account may not allow GLP-1 sign-up at checkout.
For temporarily unavailable states (Texas and Mississippi), service is expected to resume once the new pharmacy partnership is in place. Message support to be notified when it does.
For ongoing-restriction states (Alabama and Louisiana), the protocol cannot be offered until the underlying regulation or operational issue changes.
What this means for existing customers
If you're already on the GLP-1 protocol and your state moves to a restricted list — or you move to a restricted state — you have two options:
Pause or cancel temporarily. Account credits and any prepaid balance remain on your account. When service resumes in your state, or if you move to an available state, reactivate through your dashboard or contact support.
Contact support to discuss other options based on your situation.
