Prescriptions, Refills, and Renewals

Explains how prescriptions are issued, how refills and renewals work, and what steps may be required before your clinician approves medication.

How Prescriptions Are Determined

Maximus provides medical care, not stand-alone medication fulfillment.

Your clinician reviews:

  • Your intake questionnaire

  • Medical history

  • Symptoms

  • Lab results (when required)

  • Current medications

Prescriptions are issued only when treatment is medically appropriate and allowed in your state.

Refill and Renewal Process

Some medications renew automatically, while others require additional steps before approval.

These steps may include:

  • A renewal questionnaire

  • Updated labs

  • A clinician review

  • A consultation

You will be notified in your portal if any action is required before a refill can be approved.

Early Refills

Early refills are not guaranteed.

If you are running low on medication we can work with your clinician will determine whether an early refill is appropriate.

Common Refill Delays

Refills may be delayed for several reasons, including:

  • Missing or outdated labs

  • Incomplete renewal questionnaires

  • Pending consultations

  • State or pharmacy restrictions

  • Location verification issues

Completing required steps promptly helps prevent delays.

Staying on Track

To ensure smooth renewals:

  • Respond to clinician messages promptly

  • Complete labs when requested

  • Submit renewal questionnaires on time

  • Use the messaging feature in your Maximus dashboard to communicate directly with your clinician for any concerns or updates.

Your clinician will guide you through each step of the process.
