Maximus uses identity and location verification to ensure that medical care is safe, compliant with regulations, and provided by a clinician licensed in your state.
Why verification is required
Telehealth regulations require clinicians to verify client identity and location before prescribing. Verification helps ensure:
Safe medical care
Accurate medical records
Compliance with state and federal laws
Your information is encrypted and used only for healthcare and regulatory compliance.
Identity verification
You may be asked to upload a valid government-issued ID and submit a live selfie to confirm your identity.
To complete identity verification:
Upload a clear image of your government-issued ID β make sure both the front and back are included.
Take a live selfie in a well-lit environment. Make sure your face is fully visible and matches the photo on your ID.
The verification system checks:
Whether the ID is authentic
Whether the photo matches your profile
Whether the information is complete
Whether both the front and back of the ID have been submitted
Why verification may fail
Verification may fail if:
The image is blurry or dark
The ID is expired
Information does not match your intake
The barcode on your ID is unreadable
The system cannot match the selfie with the ID photo
The camera fails to capture an acceptable photo during the verification process
If verification fails
Try these troubleshooting steps:
Ensure clear and readable images. Upload a clear image of your government-issued ID (front and back). Make sure the images are well-lit, in focus, and all details are readable.
Submit a quality selfie. Take a clear selfie that matches the photo on your ID. Make sure the selfie is well-lit and your face is fully visible.
Avoid filters. Don't use filters or edit your photos.
If automated verification continues to fail, Maximus offers a manual review:
Submit your ID photos and selfie through support chat or email
A support specialist will review and approve your identity verification manually
Location verification
Your clinician must be licensed in the state where you are physically located. Location verification ensures:
Legal prescribing
Proper clinician assignment
Accurate protocol availability
You may be asked to confirm your address or complete a secure location verification.
Moving to a new state
If you move:
Update your address in your Maximus dashboard
Complete location verification if prompted
Protocol availability may change depending on your new state.
